If I Had To Develop An App

I’ve never been someone who loved shopping for clothes, and probably because of this I don’t spend my free time reading about fashion trends or watching fashion shows. Unfortunately this means designing my daily outfits is a task I find difficult and thus I waste a lot of time.

I’ve been thinking about this problem a lot lately (whilst trying to decide what to wear) and I’ve come up with a possible solution that could become the next bestselling app. So, if you’re an excellent programmer or an up-and-coming app developer please take my idea into consideration – the only thing I ask in return is that I’m notified as soon as you release the app so my clothing dilemma is solved as soon as possible.

My idea

At the moment you can upload your photographs on many apps and yet as far as I know no one has created an interactive fashion advising app. And that needs to change!!

Obviously, if I was an app developer I would have created it myself but frankly I’m not and currently I don’t have the time to study to become one. However, I still think that creating this could be possible. In fact, I don’t think it’ll be that difficult to make. You just need to create a way for people to upload their photographs of clothing items onto this app under their profile. When they do this you need to ensure that they fill in a caption describing the item in the photograph (they’ll have to upload one photograph of a clothing item at a time but after they’ve done this once the item should be stored in their “Virtual Closet”).
E.g.
Lady's Denim Jacket
If you want to do it manually (basically hire a person to sort through the photographs and design the outfits out of the clothing items) you can, though this is probably a waste of time. The best way to do it would be to teach the user a little bit of code therefore if they put in something like <jacket <denim>> as their caption and if you’ve programmed the app correctly it will use this information when designing outfits. All the customer then has to do is click a button that says something like “Generate Possible Outfits” and immediately different combinations of their leggings, shirts and jackets or skirts and blouses will appear.

To make it even more convenient and possibly produce better outfits, you could programme the app to match crop tops with skirts and denim jackets with white shorts so the outfit will be following the latest fashion trends. This would ensure that your customers are happier and are more likely to recommend the app therefore you will have more downloads.

And to end off, I’d like to know if any of YOU would like to have an app like this one J  - If so please post a smiley face along with a few words in the comment box below, on my Facebook page, Twitter or drop me a note via email.
We’re more likely to get this app developed if a lot of us show we want it.
